Can Accountants in a company go on strike?
I'm belong ACCA & ATT (i pay my membership fees). Do student members have the same rights? Also can you strike in the private sector (I see public sector workers go on strike over pay through there unions) ?

Answer 1 :
If your not part of a collective bargaining agreement with the employer like most people who belong to unions, then going on strike will not really have any leverage. You will simply be fired and replaced by someone else.
Answer 2 :
Why would they. If they do not like the pay and conditions they can look elsewhere for a job. Accountants are professionals as are Doctors and Solicitors. Never heard of any of them going on strike. UK
Answer 3 :
ACCA and ATT are private organizations who can make rules for their members any way they like. If they choose to give student members the same rights as other members, that's fine, but they don't have to do so. Yep, accountants can strike in the private sector, just like any other employee. But your employer can also fire you if you do. So, if you absolutely must strike, make sure you and the other employees truly are indispensable and not replaceable, and that the strike will not cause the employer to go out of business immediately.
Answer 4 :
ACCA is not a union. It is a professional body, very different. It is a professional regulator, nothing to do with workers rights! I'm not so up on ATT (Association of Tax Technicians?) but don't think they are a union either.
